After prayerfully considering many factors related to the ongoing Coronavirus situation, the Pastoral leadership and Board of Directors of Emmett Community Bible Church have decided to take these unusual steps to do our part in support of our country and community’s efforts to mitigate the impacts of the virus.
We understand that church is a community of believers who connect with one another as the Body of Christ, and that assembling together for times of worship and ministry are an essential part of connection in the Christian life. And so we are working hard to balance that with the reality of a public health hazard, and the recommendations of health professionals and our elected officials.
With that in mind, we are making these temporary changes to how we worship together. For at least the next two weeks, we will not assemble together at the church for worship services, instead we will assemble together online through live-streaming. Our IT team is working overtime to put in place a system that you will enjoy and appreciate. We were able to have a trial run for last night’s Bible Study and Prayer Meeting, and we believe we will be able to improve the process for this Sunday.
The Sunday live-stream schedule will be 11:15am Morning Worship, and 6:00pm Bible Study with the Pastor. The Wednesday service will be live-streamed at 7pm.
In addition, we are placing a temporary hold on some of the weekly ministries that we do here at CBC. For the next two weeks the following ministries will be on hold: Kingdom Kids, Life4ce, Ladies Share Group, and Coffee Buddeez. Celebrate Recovery will meet in small groups on Thursdays at 7pm without meal service. Also the CR Step Studies will meet on Mondays with the Ladies at 5:30pm, and the Men at 6:00pm. Men’s Bible Study and the Watchmen Bible Study will continue to meet at their regularly scheduled times and places.
None of these decisions have been taken lightly, and are not made from a spirit of fear, but rather with a view toward stewardship of the health and well-being of our congregation, and an expression of leadership within our local community. Remember these words that God said to Joshua when He was encouraging him to be strong and courageous – “The LORD is the one who goes ahead of you; He will be with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” – Deuteronomy 31:8
Let me encourage you to be in prayer for our country, and indeed the people around the world affected by this virus. Our CBC Leadership Team is monitoring the situation closely, and we will be reassessing on a regular basis. We welcome your input, and as decisions are made, we will do our best to communicate them clearly to everyone. I’m looking forward to “seeing” you this Sunday online!
